Now, he and the rest of the community are being challenged to capture life in isolation for quirky new project I am Tamworth True.
Everyone in the region is encouraged to snap a photo of themselves or their families at home during the pandemic to share their personalities with the town.
"Normally I shoot sports events, social and community events, family and personal traits and sometimes the occasional wedding," Mr Turner said.
"Obviously that isn't happening now, so this is a great initiative.
"I took my own isolation family portrait just on an iPhone."
Organised by community group Tamworth True, everything from the serious to the silly is encouraged.
On any given street, it's not unusual to see a dinosaur, a zombie or a drag queen take the bins out during COVID-19 isolation.
Even in a pandemic, the Australian sense of humour still manages to shine through, Tamworth True founder Jody Ekert said.
"Things like dressing up to take our your wheelie bin have taken off and we'd love to see people show off their costumes and families locally at home," she said.
"We know Tamworth has a fabulous bunch of creative folk looking for outlets, and almost everyone has access to a camera phone.
"It's an easy thing to hand the phone over to the kids and ask them to direct their own photoshoots or reflect on their time in lock down too."
The project has the support of a number of Tamworth photographers who will share tips during the event and their own work as inspiration.

The portraits can be a reminder to everyone of who we are as a town and community by staying connected with each other, Ms Ekert said.
"It's also important not to forget our region is still drought affected, we've just come through a terrible bushfire season and our farmers still have to get up every day on their properties and work and that hasn't changed."
Photos can be shared with the official hashtags for the event #myisofamily #tamworthtrue and #caremongering.
