The 19-year-old man was arrested on Good Friday in Armidale after investigations into the violent break-in.
He has subsequently been charged with aggravated break-and-enter and commit serious indictable offence.
The teenager was still in custody at Armidale police station late on Friday.
Detectives have confirmed they are following a number of leads into the identity of three others believed to be involved.
Investigations continue.

DETECTIVES are hunting four people who broke into a home overnight and bashed a teenager inside.
Police said the four intruders were not armed but stormed the house in Watson Avenue in Armidale about midnight on Thursday.
Five occupants were home at the time, and the four targeted one resident, an 18-year-old man, demanding property.
He was then assaulted by the intruders, who fled empty-handed.

The four were last seen running east along Watson Avenue, towards Kennedy Street North.
Armidale police were alerted and set-up a crime scene at the house.
Police confirmed the victim went to Armidale hospital for shoulder injuries suffered in the attack but he's since been released and is recovering at home.
No one else was injured in the incident, police confirmed.
Detectives have now taken charge of the investigation into the aggravated break-and-enter and are following a number of leads.
Detectives have told the Leader initial inquiries suggest the attack was targeted, and said there is no cause for community alarm.
