In an email to clubs, McCoy said: "It seems that a cluster of people together, even if it's a team meeting or social gathering, can be deemed to be a 'training' session.
"Having said that, please take this email as a severe warning that the Police, and the general public, are on notice to protect our communities from the spread of the Coronavirus in any shape or form.

"Frustrating as it may be, It [sic] would be appreciated if all clubs could urgently reinforce the suspension notice from NSWRL to all your club's officials, players, coaches and support staff so that we can avoid any further incidents, as there are huge penalties for clubs & players if found guilty."
McCoy also said the 2020 season would commence on May 2 as scheduled if the NSWRL lifted the statewide competition suspension by then. But he would "await any further developments and advice from NSWRL" on the matter. "In the meantime it's personal training and a positive mindset so that we will be ready to go when we receive the green light," he said.
