She was then airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle, where she remains after undergoing specialist treatment.
Police were alerted and arrested Bennett a short time later at the flats. She was taken to Tamworth police station and questioned by detectives.
Bennett was later charged with one count of reckless wounding and two counts of damaging property.
Bennett made no application for release, and it was formally refused in court on Friday by magistrate Julie Soars.
She will remain in custody until the case returns to court next month.
Police will allege the woman were known to one another and it wasn't a random incident.
It's the police case that Bennett stabbed the woman after an argument unfolded late on Thursday night.
Oxley police confirmed officers had seized a knife during the arrest. A crime scene was set-up and was examined by specialist forensic police.
Investigations are continuing.
