Organisers of the Tamworth Trail Blazer have announced this year's event won't be going ahead.
Scheduled to be held on Sunday April 19 and "bigger and better than ever", the event has joined the long list cancelled in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
Organisers had hoped to be able to proceed, posting on social media on March 15 that the race was going ahead but in light of the ever-changing nature of the situation informed participants this week that they had made the decision to cancel the event.
"In line with new government restrictions on non-essential travel and the rapidly changing environment and restrictions, we have had to cancel Tamworth Trail Blazer for 2020," the post read.
"We thank you for your continued support and appreciate the frustration that this decision may cause and we as race organisers are disappointed to have to cancel, however given the rapidly changing situation and circumstances, we believe we have made the most appropriate decision."
This year was to be the third year of the event, which was the brainchild of local physiotherapist and ultra-running enthusiast Warren Ansell. Organisers had added two new races - a 10km race, and for those that really wanted to test themselves a 60km race.
