The local sporting landscape is in uncharted waters with the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent public health advice forcing many organisations to to end their season's prematurely or delay the start of their competitions. Training for many sports has also been suspended.
We have compiled a list from what we know of how things presently stand.
All community football activities suspended until May 31
All baseball related activities suspended indefinitely
All competition and training postponed until further notice
All TCC cycling events cancelled effective immediately until further notice
2020 David Reid Homes Grafton to Inverell, scheduled for Saturday, May 9 postponed. Cycling Australia has set down tentative dates of September 19 or November 14.
Tamworth Golf Club
Course remains open at this point but clubhouse and the View restaurant closed indefinitely
Course remains operational with certain rules put in place adhering to government restrictions but the clubhouse and The Windmill Tavern closed
Tamworth Gymnastics Club ceasing all classes
NSW and Australian Championships cancelled
All events, meetings, competitions and training in all forms postponed until May 2
Over 40s and 45s State Championships to be held in Tamworth in May cancelled
All national and state championships cancelled
2020 Independent Miniature Horse Registry Grand National to be held at AELEC from March 23-28 postponed
2020 Australian Stock Horse Society National Show to be held from April 24-30 postponed
All bowls events suspended for an indefinite period
Tamworth Motorcyle Club has ceased all activities at Oakburn Park Tamworth
The Australian Senior Track Championship to be held at Quirindi Showground on May 16 and 17 has been postponed until September 19 and 20
Track still open but no social gatherings. Reverting to virtual racing
All events and competitions suspended until June 30. Possible July 18 start to winter competitions.
Junior and senior state titles (with the exception of opens) will postponed to October long weekend. Opens division to be held coinciding with the Masters State Titles and Social Masters from October 17-18.
All competitions and activities suspended until June 1.
2020 NSW Senior State Championships due to be played from March 27-29 postponed
Tamworth and Moree tracks closed, racing in the New England to be centralised in Gunnedah.
All ABCRA events postponed for the time being
All community rugby league suspended until at least May 1.
Tamworth and District Minor League
2020 TDML season has been postponed. No training or games may be undertaken
As per direction of governing bodies the TDML executive will reassess and look at possible dates after the upcoming school holidays, sometime in mid May (Term 2)
NSW Country Championships scheduled to be played in Tamworth on June long weekend cancelled
Games, training and all other rugby-related activities suspended until at least June 1
NSW Country U12, U13 and U14 boys championships to be played on May 2 and 3 at Nelson Bay cancelled
NSW Country open boys, and U16 and U18 girls championships to be played on May 9 and 10 at Kiama cancelled
NSW Country U15 and U16 boys championships to be played on May 16 and 17 at Armidale cancelled
NSW Junior State Championships scheduled for June long weekend cancelled
North West School Sport
All Zone/District, North West, NSWPSSA and NSWCHSSA activities will be 'temporarily ceased until further notice'. It means the trials/championships/knockouts for the: Primary Boys' and Girls' Southern Football trials, Primary Boys' and Girls' Northern Football trials, Primary and Secondary Swimming Championships, Secondary Boys' and Girls' Hockey Trials, Final Primary Boys' and Girls' football trials, CHS Girls Volleyball Championship in Armidale, Secondary Winter Trials - 15's and 18's Rugby League, Secondary Boys and Girls Football, Netball, Primary Boys and Girls Hockey, Primary Boys Southern Cricket Trials, Primary Boys Northern Cricket Trials, CHS and PSSA Diving Championships, Secondary Golf Trials will not proceed.
All knockouts are also temporarily ceased
Remainder of the TSA season cancelled/postponed
All carnivals including NSW Junior State Age Championships cancelled
Training ceased with pools closed
All Tennis Australia and Tennis NSW sanctioned events have been postponed until further notice and all tournament entries have been closed for the meantime.
