It's their love for each other that seen Ken and Gwen Brett happily married for 65 years on March 26.
"That was it from then on, they talk about love at first sight, it might have been that," Mr Brett said.
"Yes it was the same, I got all these funny feelings," Mrs Brett said.
The pair met when Mrs Brett was 19 and Mr Brett was 21.
Mrs Brett grew up in the small town of Quandialla, about 70 klicks outside of Young.
At home she helped her mother feed and care for her father and three brothers.
"They were farmers, meals at all times and that sort of thing," she said.
For a while, Mr Brett travelled around doing farm work and shearing.
When the pair couldn't be together they would write each other letters, Mr Brett said.
"I ended up working on a farm down there, and I've had all sorts of jobs ever since," he said.
"I had a trucking business, shearing, we had the hotel at Bendemeer for a while.
"In those days you didn't have to have a trade you just did whatever was offered to you really, in my early days." The couple pooled their money to buy an engagement ring and eventually married in 1955, at a ceremony in the Quandialla Uniting Church followed by a reception in the town's public hall.
"The food was brought by all our friends," Mrs Brett said.
"There was no great deal, someone made a heap of sandwiches, everyone else brought a plate or a cake or something."

And 65 years later they are still happily married, Mr Brett puts it down to having the family young. "If you have your family while you're young you can understand them a lot better I think," he said.
The pair had four children, and now have 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
