The region is currently considered a low-risk area for COVID-19, but the health and safety of the community must come first, a Tamworth Business Chamber spokesperson said.
"We also recognise that a number of our speakers are justifiably, reluctant to travel."
On Friday afternoon, Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced gatherings of more than 500 people should be cancelled from Monday.
The summit was due to be held from March 17 to March 19 in Tamworth.
Australian Banking Association chief executive Anna Bligh was due to speak at the event, among a number of local presenters.
The annual business summit is an opportunity for industries in the Tamworth region to come together to build resilience during uncertain times.
The event will now be held in October, with dates and guest speakers yet to be confirmed.
More to come.
