THE driver accused of killing a woman and her unborn baby in a crash this week has been moved into the custody of Corrective Services.

Kyra Maynard did not appear in Tamworth Local Court this week, with the court told she was in custody, under guard in hospital.
She was seriously injured in the crash on Warialda Road, late on Sunday night. A 20-year-old pregnant passenger died en route to hospital.
A solicitor for the Aboriginal Legal Service (ALS) represented 22-year-old Maynard in court but made no application for release.

Magistrate Peter Thompson formally denied bail. He ordered Maynard be transferred to Corrective Services custody, where she will remain.
Maynard was not required to enter pleas to the eight allegations, and Mr Thompson ordered the case to return to Tamworth court later this month.
She's accused of dangerous driving occasioning death by driving in a manner dangerous; negligent driving occasioning death; driver never licensed; using a vehicle that doesn't comply with standard tyres; using an unregistered vehicle; using an uninsured vehicle; using a vehicle without paying tax; and driving with an unrestrained passenger.
Crash investigators from Tamworth allege Maynard - who lives in Tingha - was unlicensed when she got behind the wheel of a Holden Commodore, with a female passenger, just before 10.30pm on March 8.
Police said the Commodore lost control on Warialda Road, and collided with a Mazda Bravo before it struck a powerpole.
Both the driver and the pregnant passenger were seriously injured. Emergency services tried desperately to save the 20-year-old woman, who was 32 weeks' pregnant.
Both women were then transported to Inverell airport to meet the Westpac Rescue Helicopter's critical care medical team, but the 20-year-old woman and her unborn baby died before she could be airlifted.
The 22-year-old driver was then flown to Tamworth hospital with head and shoulder injuries.
Police said the driver of the Mazda Bravo ute, a 19-year-old man, and his female passenger, escaped with minor injuries. He was taken to Inverell hospital for mandatory testing.
The Crash Investigation Unit has been examining the circumstances leading up to the crash, and combed the scene and the wrecks, before interviewing witnesses. They then charged Maynard on Tuesday.
