Nundle pool early closure
We have just been presented with some very disturbing news that TRC are planning on closing our Pool from Monday 16th March, 4 weeks early. TRC are claiming it is part of their Drought Management Plan, and our town is on Level 4 water restrictions so this plan activates our pool to close 1 month early.

Barraba and Manilla are also on Level 4, however they are not being closed early.
This has great impact on our Nundle Amateur Swim Club, and our wider Community. We have scheduled squad and Club nights and Learn To Swim lessons that have been paid for in advance by parents for another 4 weeks.
We have an active community that enjoy this facility for exercise and social engagement.
For the first time in many years, we have 4 children qualified and going to State Swimming in Sydney on the 6th April from Nundle Primary School. We have 2 Nundle kids in High School, also qualified for State Swimming.
It is disappointing that this has not been shared with the wider community in a public forum to have a discussion about these plans PRIOR to going to Council last week.
This seems very bizarre after that over 250 ml of the recent weeks of rain has not helped. Nundle Pool is already full, so the amount of water required to maintain is minimal.
What is the real reason for closing?

Not good for democracy
In response to Jan Morris' letter saying that 'Some Nationals voters would vote for a cattle dog if it was the candidate (14/2/2020 NDL).
I'm sure there are many people who can confirm cattle dogs are loyal, intelligent and reliable which is more than I can say about some politicians.
If a cattle dog was a candidate, I would consider voting for them. The Nationals need a bit more bark and bite for the sake of sticking up for country folk.
What I believe Jan Morris is actually saying though, is just confirming what I wrote in my letter, that people who hate Barnaby Joyce must think the people who voted for him are morons - yet they don't openly admit that for obvious reasons. The distinction Jan points out, that National people vote for the party, not the candidate, is a difference that makes no difference to the end result, and besides the point I was making anyway, namely that people who hate Barnaby Joyce, are just sore losers and can't accept their side lost the last election.
I can only repeat my point: I didn't vote for Barnaby, but I accept the vote of people who did. That's how democracy works. Valid criticism of Barnaby Joyce is one thing, but I've heard alot of what's just mindless hate directed at him, and that's not good for democracy, it's not good for anything.
