The maintenance works are scheduled to start today, Monday March 9 and to continue until Friday March 13, weather permitting.
Work crews will conduct road sealing and drainage work between Guyra and Deepwater from 6am to 6pm during that time.
Transport for NSW said in a statement that traffic will be reduced to one lane, with alternative flow and traffic control and a reduced speed limit for the section of the road.
Drivers are advised to allow extra travel time, drive to the conditions, and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
Major construction works at the infamous Bolivia Hill section of the highway may also delay motorists.
The $80 million upgrade to the dangerous black spot is on schedule to be completed by the end of 2020, weather permitting.
Transport for NSW was forced to install CCTV cameras at the roadworks last year to deter drivers from driving against lights into potentially oncoming traffic.
