An Ambulance NSW spokesperson said the patient was rescued from the vehicle by emergency services.
Paramedics treated the motorist at the scene before they were transported via road ambulance to Tamworth hospital for treatment.
Emergency services were working to clear the scene.
Investigations into the crash are continuing.

The New England Highway is blocked in both directions south of Tamworth, after a car rollover on Monday afternoon.
Emergency services are at the scene, near the Duri-Dungowan road turn-off, about 15 minutes from Tamworth.
Ambulance NSW confirmed paramedics are treating a patient at the scene, who is trapped in a vehicle.
Traffic is affected in both directions with emergency services on scene.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area.
