The first game finished after 20 overs each because of rain. In Vets cricket this constitutes a completed match.
Quirindi scored 1-89 and defeated the Mid North Coast, who made 2-66.
The weather then broke for the day-night game. Playing under lights was a first for many of the players.
New England-Tamworth amassed 5-148 and defeated the Hunter-Central Coast (99).

The following day, the sun was out for 30-over matches. Hunter-Central Coast finished on 0-134 and then restricted Mid North Coast to 8-114.
The late game saw New England-Tamworth once again showing the might of the northerners with 158. Quirindi could only gather 94 runs.
The next event for these older gentlemen will be in Armidale from March 10.
Tamworth, meanwhile, is gearing up for a major influx of veteran cricketers for the annual Cooper-Finlay Cup State of Origin series between NSW and Queensland.
Two over-50 teams from each state will compete in Gunnedah, while two over-70 teams from each state will compete in Quirindi.
The over-60 outfits will play in Tamworth.
NSW will have nine teams competing, and Queensland will have seven.
Up to 300 veteran cricketers and partners will call Tamworth home for a few days while competing in this prestigious event.
Many Australian reps will converge on area.
