Drivers will have to find somewhere else to drop their vehicles, now the free all-day parking is no more after Tamworth Regional Council authorised the sale of the land at its meeting last week.
The council's governance director Chris Weber said the site was surplus to its requirements.
"Council called for expressions of interest and last Tuesday night resolved to authorise the sale of the land," he said.
The carpark adjoins the Tamworth Hotel drive thru bottle shop, but a spokesperson for the council said it was not aware of any changes the sale may have on the shop.

Councillors had discussed valuations, pricing and methods of sale in the months leading up to Tuesday's meeting.
It's not clear who bought the carpark or what it will become.
