A driver has been injured after crashing his car into a tree near Werris Creek on Tuesday morning.

The male driver was trapped in the wreckage on Werris Creek Road about 7am.
He was freed by emergency crews shortly after.

The man, who is aged in his 30s, was conscious and breathing but was taken by ambulance to Tamworth hospital for neck and leg pain.
Traffic was diverted around the scene of the accident.
Fire and Rescue NSW, Volunteer Rescue Association and police were called to the scene after the call-out just before 7am.
The cause of the crash is under investigation and police are calling for witnesses.
