The long-time Longyard Golf Club member has been an avid player for more than 30 years and will be aiming to make a positive start to the tour season.
"It's really important to get a good start because there is world-ranking points at stake," Cox said.
"The events run in a two-year cycle and the more points you earn the better tournaments you qualify for.

Cox said he had been paying particular attention to his chipping game in preparation for the tournament.

The competition will mark the beginning of a busy tour for Cox, as he will be taking part in several others over the coming months.
"About three weeks after this event there's another one in Victoria called the All Abilities Cup," he said.
"From there I will be off to Queensland for their state tournament in April and potentially New Zealand later in the year."
