The former member of one of the country's most famous rock bands has just been made a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to the performing arts as a musician, composer and producer.
Farriss AM co-founded the band in 1977 and has since recorded 12 studio albums, 12 compilation albums, four live albums and 62 singles.

The Barraba resident is set to release his first self-titled country album as part of his new project, and performed at a number of shows for Tamworth Country Music Festival.
Farriss has collaborated with famous faces like Jenny Morris, Tania Kernaghan and Yothu Yindi.
He's also an advocate and fundraiser for Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Australia, and took part in the Hay Mate Drought Benefit Concert in Tamworth.
His previous honours include:
- Inducted into the Australian Songwriters Hall of Fame, 2016
- Awarded an HC Coombes Creative Arts Fellowship, 2015
- Inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame, INXS, 2001
- Named ARIA Producer of the Year, 1990
