A TAMWORTH tradesman is counting the costs after thieves stolen several thousands of dollars worth of tools overnight.

The goods were taken from a locked trailer, parked at the back of a driveway of a Hall Street home in East Tamworth that is being renovated.
The power tools, which include Makita, Ryobi, Lazer and Metabo brands, were believed to have been taken between 10 and 10.30pm.
Witnesses described seeing a young man in a silver SUV stop at the address at that time.

The theft was discovered early on Thursday morning when the tradesman arrived on scene.
The tiler reported toolboxes full of tiling hand tools stolen; as well as four floor and other grinders; a cordless vacuum; power boxes; silicone guns; a Lazer level; drills and drill bits; tile clips; and other items.
The goods are reported to have dust and tile glue on them and were marked with the tradesman's ID.
Tamworth police are investigating the theft. Anyone with information is urged to contact investigators on 6768 2999.
