Just after dawn, the Mitchell Street home in Wee Waa erupted into flames, quickly taking hold of the weatherboard structure.
The family inside made a miraculous escape, firefighters said, after a little girl woke to the smoke alarm going off.
Fire and Rescue NSW crews from Wee Waa, Narrabra and the Hazmat unit were deployed after several triple zero calls, backed by police and the local RFS brigade.

The first call came in at 6.10am, firefighters said, but the flames could be seen leaping from the house when they arrived on scene.
"Residents of the house had self evacuated. Amazingly a 10-year-old girl was woken to the sound of a smoke detector in full alarm mode and was able to wake the rest of the residents and escape safely," a Fire and Rescue NSW spokesperson said.
"Because of that young females quick actions of waking the rest of her family when hearing the smoke alarm being activated she has saved hers and her family's lives."
Firefighters did everything they could to try and knock the fire, which took an hour to bring under control.
The fierce fire destroyed the home and everything inside it. The cause of the fire is still being investigated by police.
"When 399 Narrabri station arrived crews were rotated for salvage and overhaul process," the spokesperson said.
"The house contains asbestos so crews had to be decontaminated and the house had to be sprayed with a glue solution to contain and further asbestos exposure."
This morning's call has proved smoke alarms do save lives.
