TAMWORTH is a thread which has been woven through most of Kasey Chambers' life.
When it came time to launch her fledgling fashion label, Poetry, in bricks-and-mortar retail, one Peel Street shop was always going to be the "perfect fit".
The Other Shop is the first physical store to stock Chambers' designs in Australia.
A long-term friend of the store's owner, Eifla Hardman, Chambers wanted to make a point of supporting Tamworth business in a difficult time.
Chambers has been surprised with the success of her clothing about one year after launching online.
She was also refreshed to have a creative outlet outside of music.
"It was just this little on-the-side labour-of-love thing and people just started really connecting with it," she said.
"People are connecting in the same way I have found in music.
"It's a bonus, it does help to do things outside of music.
"That is a personal thing for me, I like that my whole life is not about music."
While music is her first passion and her career a blessing, she said it was important for people do have things in the their which simply made them feel good.
"I have been through those stages where I have just immersed myself in music so much that I forget who I am and I lose myself in it a bit," she said.
"Because it is such a fickle industry and being a part of something creative and also being a part of something which is based around a lot of people judging you for your creativity, it can mess with your head.
"That's not healthy and I think people get a bit too wrapped up in social media and what people are saying about you on social media, none of that has to define who you are."
Chambers will be appearing at The Other Shop on Friday at 11am.
