THE Manilla pool has reopened after it was hit by vandals at the weekend, leaving a day-long clean-up operation for council crews.
The damage to the pool, and the grounds, was discovered early on Saturday morning, forcing the closure of the facility on Saturday.
Council said the town's pool was targeted overnight on Friday after vandals broke in and ransacked the grounds, breaking glass, chucking rubbish in the pool and damaging it.
Crews got to work to clean up the trail of destruction on Saturday as police were called in to investigate the trespass and the damage.
"Council staff managed to clean and repair the damage done to the pool [on Saturday] and it will be back open [on Sunday]. Police will be monitoring the area more regularly," council said online.
Police are investigating the break-in and are urging anyone who might have seen suspicious activity in the pool grounds, or anyone hanging around the pool, on Friday night and early hours of Saturday to contact Tamworth police on 6768 2999.
