This planning is expected to be finished by mid-2020.
Hunter New England Health (HNEH) and Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson will be involved in the meeting, as well as other key stakeholders.
HNEH executive director of infrastructure and planning Dr Ramsey Awad said HNEH was in the "early stages of clinical planning for the redevelopment of Gunnedah hospital".
"The process will consider what services are needed to respond to the community's future health needs and how services are connected to other facilities in the region," Dr Awad said.

Dr Awad said while the clinical planning stage largely involved clinicians, HNEH was engaging with community groups like PRAMS throughout the process.
"We are including local MP Kevin Anderson in this consultation process and also welcome any feedback he receives on behalf of the Gunnedah community," he said.
Mr Anderson said the meeting was "good progress".
"We know the community have a real interest and I want the community to have a say and so does HNEH so it makes very much sense to talk about the next steps," he said.
"We're obviously driving the redevelopment of the hospital and we'll have a good idea of the next steps and timelines for the redevelopment and what that's going to look like going forward."
In the lead up to the state election, the NSW Government committed $53 million to redevelop Gunnedah Hospital.
The project is listed in the state budget papers as set "to commence prior to March 2023".
