The plan is for the ducks to still be dropped out of a bucket from a crane but, instead of falling in the river, they will instead fall into a small enclosure.
Lucky kids from the crowd will then fish out the three winning ducks from the enclosure.

The finer details were still to be ironed out, but Lions Club of Tamworth's Geoff Allen said the club had faced similar issues before.
"Over the years, we've had to do it a number of different ways," he said.
One year, a cement mixer was used - but that damaged the ducks; another time, an electronic board was used to flash up the winning numbers.
The Lions will be selling tickets for the duck race in front of Target right up until the race on January 25.
The winner will take home $1000.
Money raised from the fundraiser will go to prostate cancer research, along with other local charities.
