Police are appealing for public information following an armed robbery in Armidale at the weekend.

About 4am on Saturday, a man armed with two large knives entered a service station on Marsh Street.
Police said two staff members observed the offender approaching the console area and immediately moved to a nearby office where their manager was located and barricaded themselves in.

The man attempted to force entry into the office unsuccessfully before stealing the locked till.
The man, who was wearing a hooded jumper, bandana and gloves fled the scene and was last seen heading north towards the carpark adjacent to the service station.
A crime scene was established, and an investigation is under way.
