Moree's sporting teams brought home three premierships in 2019, and there were numerous other fantastic achievements throughout the year.
We've gone through the archives to recap on some of the accomplishments as we wrap up another year.
JANUARY TO MARCH
The year kicked off with the Junior Masters waterskiing tournament at the Moree Water Park on in January, with local skier Lucy Christie winning a gold medal in the under 21s women's slalom event.
The event brought around 60 of the best young waterskiers from right around the country to Moree to compete, with Christie's younger brother Max the only other local to hit the water.
The day also featured the naming of the best team from the last 60 years, as well as a team for each of the six decades in the club's history.
Around 2,000 people attended the event at the Moree Rugby Union Club, which featured four great games on the field.
The opening match of the day saw the Darling Downs take down the Central West Barbarians 42-7, before The Southport School (TSS) dominated their country schoolboy rugby rivals Toowoomba Grammar School 48-0.
The Classic Wallaroos then took to the field and earned a hard-fought 17-7 victory against some of Central North's up and coming women.
Moree trio Josh Walker, Mitch Adams and Nathan Ebbett also got the opportunity to pull on the green and gold for the match.
APRIL TO JUNE
April was the month for the boxers, with the Moree Boxing Academy hosting its Boxing in the Bush fight night.
Brent McDonald won the North West middleweight title on the night while Zack Crouch took home the North West bantamweight title, with all Moree boxers going undefeated on the card.
Moree's TC Priestley also made headlines as he claimed the Australia National Boxing Federation (ANBF) Australian Super Featherweight title with a seventh round TKO victory over Ben Dencio.
"I've had big ups and massive lows, but my vision was always clear no matter how dark it got. I pushed on and stuck with it, and here I am," Priestley said after the fight.
In May, Peter Sinclair's Track Flash became only the third horse to win a trifecta of Boolooroo Cups with a stunning victory in the Moree Picnic Races feature event.
It also became the eighth Boolooroo Cup win in a row for Moree trainer Sinclair, who has a total of 14 Moree Picnic Cup wins to his name.
The dangerous Tatts Finke Desert Race returned in June, with three local riders taking on the beast.
Jesse Moore, Brett Carroll and Gerry Crowe all competed at the event, with Moore and Carroll both earning a top 20 finish in Australia's most brutal race.
JULY TO SEPTEMBER
In July, Moree Motorcycle Club brought one of the biggest events on the Motocross calendar to the local track, with the MX Nationals rolling into town.
Moree duo Dylan and Oliver Marchand competed in the event, up against some of the top riders in the country, before the event was unfortunately cut short due to safety concerns.
The sporting competitions began to wrap up in August, with a large number of Moree teams progressing into finals.
The Boomerangs capped off their season with an unbelievable victory over the Glen Innes Magpies in the Group 19 A-grade grand final, a try in the dying seconds and a sideline conversion after the siren sealing a famous win.
The Suns senior men's team had a struggling year on the field but a juniors win shows the future is bright for the new club.
While the Moree Weebolla Bulls Rugby Union Club first grade side disappointingly missed finals, second grade were able to go all the way, defeating the Tamworth Pirates in the grand final.
OCTOBER TO DECEMBER
Moree's top form continued, with all local boxers winning their bouts on the night.
Heath Whibley made the trip down to Canberra for the 2019 Mission Foods Australian Drone Nationals.
"I was over the moon. I started (drone flying) about five years ago. I've just been flying around the farm and just went down for my first event," Whibley said.
Heaton won the 93kg junior division at the 2019 Australian Powerlifting Union (APU) Australian Classic Powerlifting Championships held in Perth.
December wrapped up a great year in sport for Moree.
Katie Defraine is already making waves in boxing very early in her career. She won a gold medal at the Australian League Boxing Championships and backed that up two weeks later with a win over Bathurst's Billie Ryan for the Central West Featherweight title.
The Moree and District Cricket Association 40 over competition wrapped up, with the Stallions securing another title.
