A MAN is in a serious condition in hospital after being knocked unconscious in a motorbike crash in the early hours of New Year's Day.

The man, believed to be aged in his 30s, was injured when he fell from the motorcycle in Sandon Street in Guyra.
A spokesperson for Ambulance NSW said paramedics were called by a passerby shortly after 2.20am to reports a man was lying on the ground unconscious after a crash.
Paramedics treated the man at the scene and he was taken to Guyra hospital, where the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked from Tamworth to meet them.

The medical crew treated the man for serious head injuries and he was then flown to Newcastle's John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition.
The circumstances surrounding the crash are under investigation.
The mission was the first of the new year for the Westpac chopper which has been kept busy over the past few days with emergency missions.
The helicopter has been tasked to emergency call outs in Glen Innes and Chaffey Dam, near Tamworth, this week.
