A WOMAN was freed from an upturned car on White Street after a dramatic two-car smash brought the busy Tamworth road to a standstill.

Two cars collided at the intersection of White and Carthage streets at 6.20 on Monday evening.
A white SUV was rolled on to its side in the prang with at least one women trapped inside.

A child seat was removed from the upturned but it is unknown if anyone else was in the vehicle at the time.
Police were first on the scene before Fire and Rescue and NSW Ambulance crews came to assist.
The busy East Tamworth street was reduced to one lane as crews worked to free the trapped driver.
The driver of the upturned vehicle eventually walked free from the car with assistance from paramedics and firefighters.
She was taken away in an ambulance.
Police on the scene couldn't give the Leader any more information.
