The fourth-place finish ensured McIver booked her place in the national competition.
Up against 80 of the country's best competitors, McIver put in a personal-best effort to finish just before the semi-final stage.
Gunnedah Physical Culture's Samantha Hall said the entire club was supporting McIver.
"Claire danced beautifully and had an amazing time," Hall told the Leader.
"She didn't make the semi-final stage, but she has made Gunnedah very proud."
Gunnedah's dancers will now turn their attention to the Christmas break before returning in February.
"We will be holding a registration day on January 18 at the Gunnedah Newsagency between 9 and 11am," Hall said.
"Our classes will start early in February at the Presbyterian Church Hall in Marquis Street, Gunnedah."
