I don't think I've ever really acknowledged the volunteers in our community like I should have. I could probably say that about many of us.

On Thursday Tamworth Regional Council paid homage to our local volunteers, who collectively have given 250,000 hours of unpaid work across 44 local organisations.
Everything from the Salvos and the Scouts, to Meals on Wheels and the Tamworth High Breakfast Club, which was recognised for the 1050 hours it's collated giving students the best start to the day.
These are people who have often retired from their paying jobs, but for whom service to the community has become second nature. And without whom not a lot would get done, let's face it.
And there's a myriad of these groups out there, for example my daughter has recently joined Little Athletics. By the time we get there of a Friday night the equipment is already set up - by parents who've volunteered their own time to help out.
It's staggering to note there are more than six million volunteers in Australia. That's a lot of helping hands, and a lot of time gifted back to the community. I think they deserve a very big pat on the back.
It's worth noting at this point that there is just two and a bit weeks until Christmas. And if you are anything like me you will be 'busy as' in the lead up to the big day.
If you are heading away early I would like to take this opportunity to say thanks for your support over the past year as subscribers.
We really couldn't do it without you.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.
