Inverell's Dylan Sunderland expects to say goodbye to the amateur ranks and move into professional cycling's elite World Tour next year in style: by claiming back-to-back Tour of Tasmania victories, in Devonport on Saturday.

The 23-year-old, who signed with South African-based World Tour outfit Team NTT in August, won the Tour of Tasmania's penultimate stage on Friday - thereby extending his lead in the general classification.
Given that the top-four riders in the general classification come from Team BridgeLane, whom he rides for, and the next best-placed rider is well behind him, Sunderland hopes to cruise to victory at the final-stage criterium in Devonport.

A win would be his second on the National Road Series and his best, he said, as he was not at his best but still produced "such a dominate performance".
He said he was not "feeling fabulous", although "I've still got a fair bit of strength there".
"I've had a really big block of endurance [training] coming into next year," he said, "and I haven't really backed off and freshened up at all. So it's a bit of a training race for me.
"But yeah, it's pretty good to see that result when I'm not feeling too good."
