ONE of the region's fastest-rising netball stars has added another honour to her growing list of achievements with selection in the NSW under-19 squad.
Gunnedah native Eliza Perkins was named in the 12-strong team to compete at the National Netball Championships in Hobart next year.
The annual tournament will pit the country's best players against each other in a five-day tournament at the Hobart Netball and Sports Centre.
Representing NSW will be the latest accomplishment for Perkins, who starred for the GWS Fury in their under-23 Premier League championship victory in September.
NSW under-19 head coach Jennifer Wright said the squad would be very competitive at next year's tournament.
"Last year NSW was very competitive in reaching both the under-19 and under-17 grand finals, and in 2020, we'll be hoping to take the next step and bring silverware back to the state," she said.
"Nationals are one of the big benchmarks on along the Netball NSW pathway and to be selected for a state team is a huge achievement.
"I would like to commend every athlete who took part in what was a very long, and rigorous selection process, especially the athletes who have made it to the end.
"We now look forward to working with them and the coaching team as we get ready for Tasmania."
