A 15-year-old boy and a 17-year-old as well as a 19-year-old man are facing a raft of offences, accused of stealing cars and taking them on a joy ride.

Investigations are continuing but police allege the stolen vehicles were used to commit other crimes across Tamworth including a police pursuit, a fail to pay for petrol as well as break and enters.

"We have made significant arrests for stolen cars and being a passenger in a stolen car," Oxley Detective Acting Inspector Jason Darcy said.

"We have extra police working around the clock, targeting these offenders who continue to target community members in their homes."

Police homed in on the two younger boys, before arresting the third a day later as part of Operation Southbreak.

All three have been granted bail and will front Tamworth court at a later date.

The operation - which has ramped up in recent weeks - is investigating several break and enters, thefts and stolen cars in the South and West Tamworth areas since October.

Police said investigations are continuing and more arrests are expected.

"This is a core group of people and we know who they are. We're building evidence on them now, but we need the public to work with us," Detective Darcy said.

"We have had a breakthrough with three young Tamworth males charged last week and there is more to be done, but we need assistance from the community.

"We do know that there are people in the South and West Tamworth areas that are assisting these offenders and they are being investigated as accessories.

"As they continue to assist these groups, it makes it difficult for us to investigate them."
