On Saturday and Sunday, APDA Dance Tamworth's members will compete at the 2019 APDA National Finals and via for spots in the top six for juniors and seniors in Australia at the 2019 APDA National Championships. The events will be held at the the Sydney International Convention Centre.
To qualify for the junior sections, Tamworth girls competed at the the recent North West/North Coast APDA junior zone competition at Calrossy Anglican Girls School Hall. Over 200 girls competed.

The clubs at the event included Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Moree, Kootingal and Werris Creek/Quirindi.
Girls aged five to 12 competed in both the team and champion-girl sections. In the zone teams section, teams of eight girls will vied for perpetual trophies and the honour of being the age group champion team. Tamworth's 11-12-years teams were first , with its 9-10- years team second and third.
Tamworth's winning team performance ranks it in the top four in Australia.
In the zone champion section, girls vied for a spot at the national championships. Tamworth had girls competing in all sections, with 15 of them successful in progressing to Darling Weekend of national finals - a great achievement.
The club's open elite seniors (aged over 18) recently competed at the Concourse at Chatswood, in a bid to make the national finals.
Shelby Botfield-Mohr progressed through to the top 12 in Australia in her age group.
Then three girls from the club competed at Abbostleigh in the 13 to 15-year sections, with Rachel Brown progressing through to the top 14 in Australia in her age group.
Both girls will now compete for a top-six place in their age groups at the Darling Weekend of the national finals.

10yrs - Amy Brown and Molly Arnold
12yrs - Freya Johnson, Chloe Lockyer, Kaitlin Rheinberger and Sophia Markham-Fisher

APDA is a fusion of Physie and the art of dance. Members learn 4 - 6 choreographed routines throughout the year, each with its own specific skill-set and focus on movement, musicality, technique, performance, flexibility, cardio and strength, Competitors perform Contemporary, Lyrical and Jazz routines and the judging panel rank them on their ability to execute the syllabus correctly, using strength, flexibility, musicality and technique.
