GUNNEDAH Speedway's Night of Legends event has been brought back to life after being postponed.

Originally set to take place on November 16, the event was rescheduled due to the state's ongoing bushfire conditions.
Now the event is set to light up the Gunnedah track on Febuary 8, with a legends dinner set down for February 7 at the services club.

Event promoter Barry Towers said "everyone was on board for the new date".
"It was a pity we had to reschedule the event because it was set to be an awesome show," Towers told the Leader.
"However, I think the new date will be even better because it will still be a great show, but will give people even more of a chance to come along.
"School will be back and Christmas will be out of the way, so it should be a pretty exciting night of racing."
Towers said one benefit of the event's rescheduling was that it allowed a special guest to make an appearance.
"Barry Holden, who built the Gunnedah track, will be coming along," he said.
"I have heard a lot of people mention to me they will be even more inclined to come along, now they know he's coming.
"I think it will only add to what's sure to be a memorable night."
Initially set to be rescheduled for a fortnight's time, Towers said moving the event to February would "benefit most of the competitors and their crews".
"There's no way to please everyone and some people will now miss it because of the new date, but we feel as though this new date has suited most people," he said.
"The other benefit of waiting until February will hopefully be that we get some rain on the track.
"Our water bore at the track is as low as I've seen it in the 12 years I've been involved and if we can save some water, that's a positive.
"I'm confident this new date will work in our favour and it will hopefully be an awesome event for everyone."
