After their stunning batting capitulation in the one-day final against Old Boys at No 1 Oval on Friday night (they were bowled out for 44 chasing 56 to win), Norths rebounded in style to post 222 on day one of their two-dayer on Saturday.
Rixon scored 113 on a pitch that Redbacks skipper Adam Greentree said was two-paced and, as such, required "patience". City were 3-26 at stumps. Greentree took two wickets.

"We tried the best we could to put it [the final] out of our minds," Greentree said, "and Brendan obviously stood up ... and scored another hundred and we ended up making 220, so that's a good score. I think we put it behind us pretty well."
He added: "The best thing that could have happened was that we played on the Friday night and we had cricket again on Saturday, and we could exorcise some of our demons from Friday night - and I think we did it quite well."
Greentree described Rixon as a "phenomenal" cricketer.
