After claiming a win and a loss on day one of the four-day tournament, the local side repeated the dose on day two, finishing with an 11-0 win over South Coast and a 12-0 loss to Hunter.

The results mean North West will be vying for a top-four finish on day three of the competition.

North West coach Chris Boyko said his side would "take a lot of positives" out of their loss to competition favourites Hunter.

"I think our guys did a lot of things right on day two and will take a lot of confidence out of it," Boyko said.

"Playing these top teams early in the tournament should hopefully give these guys the confidence to match it with the other teams in the competition."

Boyko said his side had "no real standouts" on day two of the competition.

"To be honest, all of our players have been playing really well so far," he said.

"It makes my job as a coach really easy because I can rely on all of my guys to do a good job, regardless of which position they play in.

"We have got quite a few younger players, so hopefully this competition will be good for their development."

North West will resume their campaign at 9am on Thursday against Sydney West, before taking on Riverina and Sydney East later in the day.

"Hopefully we can take the things we have done well over the first two days and put it all together on day three," Boyko said.

"They have done a lot of things right and I really think they deserve to playoff for a top-four finish."
