Also, the veteran quick - who debuted in first grade at Norths at age 17 - busted his gut trying to secure the Redbacks their first premiership since 2012-13. His 38 wickets last season, at an average of 11.2, resulted in him being named the competition's best bowler.
Now, however, that frustration has been replaced by jubilation. Greentree, who replaced Brendan Rixon as captain this season, led Norths to a fifth-straight win in a 60-run defeat of West Tamworth at Riverside 1 on Saturday.
After five one-day matches, they sit atop the table - and Greentree said the side was finally fulfilling their potential, while embracing the good-time vibe he wanted to be a hallmark of his leadership.
"We're batting and bowling very well ... over the last two or three years, we struggled to put a complete performance together," he said.

The side's upturn in fortunes is best illustrated, individually, by opener Lincoln Peters, who followed up a boundary-strewn 57 not out against the Bulls last round with an 87-ball 100 against Wests. His maiden century for Norths, in what is his fifth season at the club, included 11 fours and two sixes.
He powered the Redbacks to 9-229, with Shawn Mepham taking 6-32 off seven overs.
Greentree then claimed 3-32 off eight overs as Wests made 8-169 from 40 overs. David Mudaliar top-scored (50).
