Officers are currently investigating several break-ins in the Calala, South and North Tamworth areas, as well as Oxley Vale.
"There has been an increase in property crime, and in response Operation Southbreak will be lead by the Oxley Target Action Group (TAG) with assistance from Peel highway patrol and the crime management unit," Oxley Detective Acting Inspector Jason Darcy said.
"They have proactive taskings to disrupt property crime and target individuals suspected of being involved in criminal activity.

"We have already identified a number of lines of inquiry into who is behind this recent spate and we're seeking assistance from the community about those persons responsible."
Detective Darcy again appealed for locals to lock up and look out, and reduce opportunistic crime.
"Don't leave valuables in their car, or the keys in their car; don't leave roller doors to garages or doors and windows to homes open, which gives thieves internal access," he said.
"If you see young persons walking the street late at night or early in the morning, ring the police and we can go and talk to them to find out what they're doing.
"Do not wait to report suspicious activity."
On Tuesday, a white Ford Courier, a Mitsubishi Outlander and a Kawasaki motorbike - which were stolen in the recent break-ins - were still outstanding with police appealing for public help.
Anyone with information on the recent break-ins, or the whereabouts of the stole vehicles, is urged to contact Tamworth police on 6768 2999.
