Tamworth hit a top of 32 degrees on Thursday and the thermometer is set to rise to 34 today and Saturday, according to the Bureau of Meterology.
It won't be the hottest day for October 2019, though. On October 7 this year, temperatures peaked at 37.9 degrees which was staggeringly close to the hottest October day ever in Tamworth.
And while Tamworth's won't get that high, towns further north will go close to those temperatures. Narrabri is set to hit 35 over the next two days and Moree 35 on Friday and then 37 on Sunday.
Strong winds are also predicted to blow through the region in the coming days which will make things even tougher for firefighters tackling the Kaputar Fire. A total fire ban has been declared for Moree Plains, Narrabri, Walgett and Warrumbungle on Friday.
Temperatures will dip back down to 30 on Sunday for Narrabri and Moree before creeping back toward the mid-30s throughout the week. Tamworth can expect a similar pattern with a high of 28 on Sunday before climbing back up to 33 on Wednesday.
