THERE was a gut feeling around the Dungowan Fair this year's edition might've drawn a record attendance.
Event organiser Ron Haling said people were flooding through the gates on Saturday, drawing a huge crowd on a packed social weekend in Tamworth.
Mr Haling said it provided some much needed respite to the small farming community which was grappling with the drought.
There were repeat visitors from the Hunter Valley, the Central West and Sydney who now call the fair a must-see annual event.
Mr Haling said the "young guns of country" were key attraction.
But the main factor behind the success was all about location.
"The Dungowan Recreation Ground is such a magical place to come and camp and stay," he said.
