Winning the toss and electing to bat, Norths were able to capitalise on a positive start and post an imposing first innings total of 9-258.
Rixon was the star of the innings, compiling a well-made 114 not out, while Bryan Warren was the best with the ball for Souths, claiming 4-49.

In reply, Souths began in strong fashion as Mitchell Smith (33) set a solid platform for his side.
However, it proved to be short lived, as two wickets from Adam Cruickshank helped Norths stay ahead of the game.
From there, Norths continued to turn the screws and pick up wickets at regular intervals.
A fighting 33 from Souths skipper Tom Groth helped his side take the match into the final over.
However, it was not enough to save his side from being bowled out for 192 and suffering its first loss of the summer.
Norths bowler Brad Redshaw said he was pleased with the side's "all-around performance".
"Brendan was rock solid with the bat and allowed the rest of us to bat around him," he said.
"It gave us a really strong total to defend with the ball.
"Everyone really stuck to their plans and while Souths ended up with a few more than we'd have liked, it was a pretty good performance."
Redshaw said a focus on tight bowling at the start of Souths innings was a crucial part of the side's win.
"We had talked about being really tight early," he said.
"We knew that if we could do that, with how up and down the pitch was, and the slow outfield, we knew we'd be a chance.
"When it got to the halfway point of their innings we knew it would be pretty tough for them to get our score.
"It was pleasing to stick to the plan and to get a good win."
