Olsen faced Tamworth District Court Judge Jeffery McLennan via audio visual link, still without full-time legal representation.
"What I'm going to do because of the nature of the processes involved, I will adjourn the matter until December 6 at which time I will be having Mr Olsen arraigned," Judge McLennan said.
"I will expect him to be in a position to answer the inquiries that will asked of him in respect of the two counts on the indictment against him."
Olsen is charged with reckless wounding and common assault and was committed to the district court for sentence in September. Police claim Olsen stabbed his 48-year-old friend on December 25 at a hostel.
