The Bulls opened their season with a loss to North Tamworth last week, while Old Boys picked up where they left off last season by defeating Wests.
Paterson said his side was "ready for the test" Old Boys would bring.
"I think it will be a really good challenge for us and a good indicator of where we stand this season," Paterson said.
"Old Boys have some really talented players and we will certainly have our work cut out for us.
"But if we can focus on doing the little things right, like fielding well and taking our chances, I'm confident we can go alright."

Paterson said his side would "take a lot" of last week's loss to Norths.
"I think the thing we learned last week was that we had to take our chances," he said.
"We had some missed chances in the field last week and it really came back to haunt us.
"Hopefully, we will be better for the run and can turn it around on Saturday.
Paterson started the season in promising form, scoring 25 in a partnership alongside Lachlan Barton (45).
"I think the thing that really hurt us the most last week with our batting was losing wickets in clumps," he said.
"We lost two early wickets, but then Lachy and I were able to get a bit of a partnership going.
"Unfortunately we were both dismissed at around the same time, which really set us back.
"Hopefully this week we can value our wicket a bit more and not lose too many wickets so close together."
Saturday's action will begin from 1pm at Riverside Oval No.1.
