About 60 people turned up to Tamworth Clay Target Club at Loomberah for the free event: some clay target shooting, some prizes and a barbecue dinner.
North West Agrifinance sourced funding from Challenge Community Service and the region's Primary Health Network to put on the day.
Owner-director James Smith said the aim had been for "people to just get away and lighten up and take their mind off things for the afternoon".

"We deal with farmers in our business; they're all struggling but [so are] other people related to agriculture from town," Mr Smith said.
He said such an event was "particularly important for people who are indirectly affected" by the drought
"Everyone talks about the farmers, but there are lots of other people that are affected: contractors, stock and station agents dealing it with every day, and even bankers and people like that."
