A YOUNG child has been airlifted to hospital after being seriously injured in a fall from a ute near Guyra.

The six-year-old boy suffered serious abdominal injuries in the accident which occurred about 3.30pm on Tuesday.
A spokesperson for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter said the injuries were suffered after a reported fall from the back of a ute.
The boy was rushed to Guyra hospital where the chopper was deployed to.

The critical care team on board the helicopter stablised the boy before he was flown to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle in a serious condition.
CYCLIST INJURED
Meanwhile, a cyclist has been treated in hospital after being hit by a car in South Tamworth.
The accident happened shortly after 9.30am on Tuesday at the intersection of Diane and Kent Street.
Ambulance NSW said paramedics treated a man in his twenties who had fallen from a bike.
He suffered injuries to his ankle and arm and was taken to Tamworth hospital in a stable condition.
Investigations into the crash are continuing, police said.
