Trailing Western Phoenix 1-nil at half-time of their final at Coffs Harbour on Friday, the Kougars kicked two unanswered goals in the second half to claim the spoils 2-1 and cap off an undefeated campaign.

Danielle Bishop got the Kougars on level terms with a shot from outside the box early in the second half.

Seven minutes later Nakeisha Burgess put away a corner cross from Milla Thompson to put the Kougars in front and they held on.

Earlier they had defeated Warner's Bay 1-nil, Jordan Donnelly scoring the decisive goal in the 29th minute.

She then scored a double as they accounted for the Uki Pythons 3-nil, Claire Sullivan also finding the net.

"It would have been disappointing for players, parents and officials to have their games called off on Saturday and Sunday and therefore miss out on playing games and have no winner crowned," NNSWF football events and operations coordinator Annalisa Ceccato explained.

She said the teams "showcased some brilliant football", adding that although there would be some tired legs the players "would have enjoyed their time playing at the C.ex International Stadium against the best other community teams from across the region".

Kootingal's triumph comes two days after North Companions claimed the spoils in the under-15s boys.
