A heavy downpour hit the city on Saturday, dumping more than 40mm of rain in parts of Westdale, Taminda and surrounding areas.
The Tamworth Jockey Club saw 40mm fall and now stewards will examine the track on Monday morning ahead of its race meet.
There were reports of 20 to 30mm of rain falling in East Tamworth as the water spilled onto the streets and rushed down the street gutters.
Residents in Daruka reported about 18 to 20mm, while Attunga recorded a similar amount.
Parts of South Tamworth appeared to miss some of the wet stuff with some residents reporting about 15 or so millmetres while Longyard locals saw about seven millimetres of rain, and others recorded even less.
Timbumburi, Duri and Kingswood appeared to miss the storm that dumped the heavy rain with less than 5mm recorded in rain gauges, according to locals.
More showers are predicted for Thursday.
SATURDAY NIGHT UPDATE
Saturday has trumped Friday's effort in the rainfall department.
There were reports of upward of 13mm of rain in Tamworth on Friday but the skies really opened up on Saturday.
At 8pm, Tamworth Airport had recorded 26.6mm of liquid gold with rain still falling.
EARLIER
The sky was teasing Tamworth on Friday with dark clouds throughout the morning and at 2pm, they finally produced what we all wanted.
For the better part of half an hour, Tamworth was hit with a good dose of rain before it eased up.
While the Bureau of Meteorology didn't record any at Tamworth Airport, an East Tamworth resident sent in a photo of their rain gauge which had a reading of 11mm at 3pm.
BoM did report rainfall at the Armidale Airport (4.8mm), Inverell RS (3.4mm), Glen Innes Airport (1.4mm) and also Narrabri (1mm).
There is a chance for more rain to come. On Saturday the Bureau of Meteorology is predicting a 70 per cent chance of 1-3mm.
Rainfall data was accurate at 4pm Friday.
