Anthony Raymond Taylor was arraigned in Tamworth District Court on Friday via audio visual link from prison.
He faces six charges in connection to an alleged violent sex attack and filming a woman engaged in a private act without her permission.
Judge Jeffery McLennan read each of the charges to Taylor on Friday and asked him to enter a plea.
"On December 1 in East Tamworth, you did for sexual gratification film someone engaged in a private act knowing she was not consenting, adapting the fabric of a building for the commission of the offence," he said.
"What say you Mr Taylor, are you guilty or not guilty?"
"Not guilty," Taylor replied. He will now face trial next year.
Police allege the 58-year-old bound and gagged a 54-year-old woman in her home on February 9, before he violently raped her.
It's the Crown case that Taylor targeted the woman, trying to contact and meet her multiple times after the alleged assault.
