INVESTIGATORS are looking into the disappearance of 132 Merino ewes, heavy in lamb, from the property Trevanna at Ashford.
The sheep have reportedly gone missing from the Inverell Road property some time after July, when they were shorn.
The New England Rural Crime Prevention Team of Inverell is conducting the investigation.
The ewes, which were part of a mob of 655, are described as being two to six years old, heavily pregnant and freshly shorn.
Some of the animals are station-bred, but most of them were bought from various vendors in the past 18 months.
All of the sheep are fitted with NLIS devises of various colours.
The property identification code (PIC) numbers on the tags include NH510435, NE510616, NB020232, NK251942, NA251717, NF020862 and NH590092.
Investigators are keen to speak with anyone who might have information on the missing sheep or suspicious activity around Trevanna or the Inverell Road, Ashford.
Police encourage people to report stock theft promptly, even small numbers.
