Kyle Smith, 21, is one of two men charged with threatening staff with a knife at the popular Tamworth watering hole in October last year, before he allegedly made off with cash.
Magistrate Julie Soars set a date for case conference, where Smith's lawyers and the prosecution will discuss the charges to go forward.
"The conference is to help you plead guilty or not guilty and discuss any offers that may be made," Ms Soars said.
"After the conference, a certificate will be prepared as a record.
"The magistrate will ask whether it's a plea of guilty or not guilty to the offences proceeding.
"If you plead guilty, you will go to the district court for sentence.
"If you plead not guilty, you will go to the district court for trial."
Police arrested and charged Smith in May at Newcastle with destroying property and committing a robbery armed with an offensive weapon.
CCTV footage obtained by Oxley Police District officers shows a man wearing black pants, a white t-shirt, black cap and purple bandana over his face.
